Dr Michael Costello is an experienced fertility specialist who is also a renowned expert on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and is often asked for his views on PCOS-related matters. Dr Costello's comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the latest research findings across a wide range of fertility issues means he is able to meticulously assess and care for his patients with a highly personalized approach. He is known for his honest and down to earth manner. After completing his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and obtaining his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), Dr Costello undertook further sub-speciality training in infertility and reproductive endocrinology at the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney and overseas at the Jessop University Hospital in Sheffield, England. He was subsequently accredited with his sub-specialty Certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) by the RANZCOG and awarded a Masters in Reproductive Medicine by the University of Sydney. As a foundation member of the PCOS Australian Alliance (PCOSAA) Strategic Advisory Group, he chaired the 'Therapy for Infertility for PCOS' Guideline Development Group for the Evidence-based guideline for the assessment and management of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Dr Costello is also currently a Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with the University of NSW, and a Clinical Academic with the Department of Reproductive Medicine at the Royal Hospital for Women. He teaches and examines for the undergraduate Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and postgraduate Masters of Reproductive Medicine degrees at the University of NSW. His special interests include all aspects of assisted reproduction including ovulation induction, intra-uterine insemination, IVF and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
